The Evolution of an Artist
The Evolution of an Artist I have always thought that making art is like taking a journey. As we go down the road we experience new things in life and those things change who we are as people. For me, the art that I create is a reflection of those experiences. Art is a form of communication not unlike the spoken or written word. Color and imagery come together like words to tell a story. The story I tell is the story of my experience and speaks to my belief systems and experiences. We are always changing and as we change our art should change too. Let’s take a journey.
David Johnson holds a BFA in fiber from Colorado State University and a MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. David has held teaching positions at the Oregon College of Arts and Crafts, the Appalachian Center for Craft, and Front Range Community College. He has also taught workshops over the years most recently at the Muskegon Museum of Art in conjunction with the opening of the “Innovators and Legends in Textiles and Fibers”, which will be opening in Fort Collins this January. David has work in multiple corporate collections including the Opry Land Hotel in Nashville, TN.
