MATERIALS and SUPPLIES:

Please contact Cathy Bickell if you have any questions regarding the workshop, materials, or supplies and tools.

2-Day workshop list of materials and supplies the attendee must bring:

Materials:

  • 250g - 300g 18 - 19 mic Merino wool tops (a few of your favorite colors);
  • Dyed plant fibers, for example, ramie, hemp, bamboo, or flax (any of your favorite fiber and color, about 2 yards of roving).
  • Two to three yards of Margilan silk gauze fabric (authentic, organic, hand-woven, hand-dyed; will be available for sale from the instructor, $11 per yard). This fabric is perfect for the innovative techniques of this class and allows the creation of complex surfaces in a limited workshop time. It's not the same with tissue silk or other silk fabric.

Supplies and tools:

  •  Plastic bubble wrap, enough to cover a 6' table; plus an extra piece about 30” X 30” in size.
  • Clear, thin plastic (painters' drop), enough to cover our project layout, 30” X 40” approximately.
  •  Watering device, a ball brouse , or a squirt bottle of a choice.
  • Container for water/soap solution (small bucket);
  • Natural liquid soap (biodegradable dish soap is the best); you can bring your favorite olive soap bar, but we will mainly use water/soap solution.
