Copresident: Becky Campbell

Joined 2008, took time off, rejoined September 2024

I grew up sewing and crocheting with my Grandma, but I really found my fiber love after spinning with Maggie Casey 17 years ago from raw fleece. I love learning new techniques and fiber arts and currently am exploring ways to hand-process fleece differently to fine-tune my yarn. I never turn down new hobbies, but knitting, mending/embroidery, and weaving keep intriguing me. After a few years away, it has been great to rejoin my fiber friends in the guild to explore, learn, outreach and volunteer. I am so excited to continue learning from our members!

Copresident: Rachel Courtney

Joined March 2022

I became a member of the Guild in March 2022 and joined the board as the website coordinator (2023-2025) shortly thereafter. This year, I moved over to membership coordinator and am enjoying putting faces and names together as I greet members at meetings and pass out buttons. I am also serving as copresident (2025-2026) and am utilizing my organizational skills to run board meetings and reply to emails.

I make my living as a graphic designer, and I love teaching and expanding my own knowledge by going to art classes, especially ones where you can see if you enjoy a specific type of art without having to buy in to all of the supplies. I am never afraid to try something new. In the past decade, I have been very interested in fiber art, recently learning to spin, make coiled vessels and weaving. Crocheting is my favorite and in recent years I've learned to read patterns. I'm committed to inclusion and want to make sure everyone feels welcome in our group.

Evening Chair: Camille Wall

Joined 2015

I have been a member of HGB since 2015, and found a home at the evening meeting. I first learned to knit around 15 years ago at Shuttles, Spindles & Skeins and never looked back. Currently I enjoy crocheting amigurumi critters and some weaving on my inkle loom. Other fiber interests include tatting, knitting, and basket making. The Guild has given me so much and am looking forward to giving back.

Membership: Gwen O'Brien

I’m a long-time crocheter and beginning weaver and natural dyer who moved to Boulder from the DC area in 2021. After falling in love with weaving through classes at the Boulder Library’s makerspaces, I joined the guild and have loved getting to know its members, hanging out in the natural dye study group, and volunteering at events. I am also a member of the Wednesday Weavers group, and have dabbled in spinning, felting, basket making, and quilting. When I’m not trying to learn every craft anyone will teach me, I can usually be found reading or running my online book club. I look forward to getting to know more existing members and spreading the word about the Guild to potential new ones!

Member at Large: Deane Bowers

Joined 1995

I am an enthusiastic weaver, spinner, natural dyer and quilter. I started weaving in the early seventies and got my first loom from the Whole Earth Catalog in 1971. I started spinning and natural dyeing when I moved here to Colorado about 30 years ago. As an entomologist, I am especially interested in insect dyes, but also enjoy exploring all kinds of natural dyes. I’m part of the Guild natural dyeing group and have been a member of the Guild for a long time. I’m looking forward to having more time to devote to exploring fiber arts in the coming years and am very excited to be able to become more involved with the Guild.

Past President : Amy Mundinger

Joined 2005

Amy Mundinger loves embroidery, felting, crochet, tapestry, inkle and loom weaving, watercolors, photography, quilting and generally making with her hands. Amy has been a member of HGB for more than 20 years and has been Sale Chair, President and Merchandising Manager for the HGB Fiber Art Show & Sale. The best thing about being in the Guild is the nonstop inspiration from the invited presenters and from other Guild members.

People ask me what fiber craft I do, and I say I ‘dabble’ in many. I have made several quilts and quilted pieces. I have sewn clothes for myself and others since I was 11 years old. I knit and crochet but nothing complicated. I have made a few baskets from fiber, coiled rope, wooden reed and pine needles. I have several buckets of canes from my yard and woody areas for future basket projects.

Once I retired in the spring of ’23, I joined the Rocky Mountain Weavers Guild and started going to the dye garden in Chatfield to learn about dyeing fiber. I call it my Wednesday morning chemistry class. I hope to become active in the Boulder dye group. I also bought two looms, Mirrix tapestry loom and a Kromski rigid heddle, and have started weaving. I joined the Boulder Guild to expand my knowledge and exposure to fiber and am excited to be working on programs.

Programs Planning Chair: Teresa Coons

Joined November 2024

I have been knitting, crocheting, and embroidering since I was a child (taught by my mother and grandmother), but have become serious about learning new techniques and improving my skills only since retiring. I learned to weave about eight years ago. I find that I enjoy the (constant) problem solving involved in weaving, and love to play with texture, color, and different fibers in both my weaving and knitting. I just love fiber and the fiber arts in all of their forms!

I am a fourth generation Denver area native, but lived for many years in New Mexico and western Colorado. I now live in Arvada, close to daughters and grandkids, after retiring from a career as a medical researcher.

I participated in my first Show and Sale this fall and have found the Guild to be a most welcoming place, and have enjoyed participating in programs and workshops. I currently participate in the Sett to Weave study group and will join the new evening knitting group in the New Year. I look forward to continuing to learn from other Guild members and to supporting the Guild by helping to bring interesting and educational programs to our membership.

Sale Chair: Babs Herrli

Joined 2013

Although I learned to knit in third grade, knitting was not an active pursuit until in my mid-50s. Besides knitting, I do freestyle embroidery work and make small quilts. Through a work colleague, Joanne George, I was introduced to HGB in the early 2000's, and sporadically attended meetings. After retirement in 2016, I worked at Gypsy Wools whose owner, Barb Day, spoke highly of the Guild and its opportunities to learn new crafts and meet like-minded people. This resulted in my joining the guild and attending regularly. I also attend the Day Knitters and Spinners Group meetings.

I was the Sale Chair for the HGB Fiber Art Show & Sale in 2024 and 2025, and the Assistant Sale Chair in 2025. The Sale Chair is the liaison, chief coordinator and communicator between the Sale Committees and the Boulder County Fairgrounds.

I find the Sale a great way to promote the guild members' myriad fiber pursuits to the public. The Sale Committee is a great support to the chair and really helped me learn how to manage the sale my first year. They are a wonderful group to work with and lead.

Secretary: Kitty Migaki

I learned how to crochet at school when I was 10 and have crocheted since. Twenty years ago, when a neighbor needed to rehome his alpacas, my husband Ken and I adopted them, and later animals from 2 other herds. I found felting 3 years ago, and now consider myself a felter and have been grateful for the opportunity to attend the felting subgroup at Cathy Bickel’s house. I am new to the Guild, but I look forward to continuing as secretary.

The Beat Editor: Michelle Cole

Joined April 2025

I started knitting as an exchange student in Norway in high school (the early 80’s) and have never stopped. I am obsessed with spinning to knit, I do a little embroidery, love experimenting with natural dyes, sew pretty much all my clothes, and from the scraps, I make quilts. Though I swore it would never happen, I am currently learning to weave. I teach sewing at Maker General in Longmont and try to get as many folks as possible hooked on making. I joined the Handweavers Guild last year, when I realized that knitters and spinners have a home here, too. I have been attending the Spinners Study Group this year. Professionally, I am a writer and editor, and am excited to get to use my skills to support the Guild.

I have always loved art and making things, and I’ve been enthralled by ancient pottery, basketry, and jewelry my whole life. I double majored in Art and Communications in college, and focused on sculpture, ceramics and painting. While my professional career has ended up in Business Management, I always have something artsy in the works. For years I crocheted, then tried knitting, went back to painting and suffered through watercolors.

But my bucket list item was always weaving. Somewhere in the Covid years I took a class, bought a rigid heddle loom and fell back in love with yarn. Then a felted bunny kit was on a sale table, and I have never looked back. Felting in all forms is my passion, and my studio is a haven of wool and yarn. I love combining weaving and wet felting, and creating sculptures from fiber. There is so much to learn and try, and I’m so pleased to have found HGB as a source of support and knowledge!

I started my fiber journey at an early age, learning to sew and cross stitch with my mom. I've always loved the tactile quality of fiber—how it looks, feels, and smells, as well as the satisfaction of creating something tangible. After taking a long break to explore other arts like painting, photography, sculpture, and digital media, I picked up knitting in 2022 and immediately remembered how much I loved working with fiber. Since then, I've embraced multiple fiber arts including knitting, crocheting, weaving, felting (both wet and needle), and sewing. Most recently, I've been focused on sewing and am excited to continue expanding my skills. I look forward to this opportunity to serve the guild and connect with fellow fiber enthusiasts!
